What to expect at the ER
Read below to learn about what you should expect when you visit our ER for treatment.
Triage
The triage process at our facility helps facilitate order of care, and order of care is determined by the severity of conditions. Meaning, it could be possible for someone who arrived after you to be treated before you, simply because their condition may be more urgent.
If your condition is life-threatening, you will be taken directly to an exam room. If your condition does not require immediate care, you may be asked to have a seat in our lobby until an exam room becomes available. No matter the condition, we strive to treat you as soon as possible. If you feel your condition has changed while waiting, please immediately inform the reception desk.
Registration
At the onset of your visit, you will be visited at your bedside by a registration clerk so that they can gather your personal information, including your name, address, phone number, personal physician and insurance information. They will also ask you to sign a treatment consent form.
Evaluation
Once settled in an exam room, a physician, physician's assistant or nurse practitioner will perform a screening exam, including inserting an IV or performing any necessary diagnostic testing, including imaging scans and urine or blood samples for laboratory testing.
Some tests take longer to complete, so our priority is to conduct testing as quickly as possible so that we can better understand your condition and inform further treatment. We appreciate your patience as we work to provide the care you need, and we hope to make you as comfortable as possible during your stay.
Treatment
Following the results of your screening and diagnostic testing, your physician will determine the proper course of treatment. No matter the plan of care, our staff will keep you informed with frequent progress updates regarding your care and what to expect during every part of the treatment process. If you should require a higher level of care, you will be transported to our main campus.
