Unidad de cuidados intensivos pediátricos (UCIP)

La unidad de cuidados intensivos pediátricos brinda tratamiento y equipos especializados a niños en estado crítico. Los médicos y el personal de enfermería de la UCIP cuentan con capacitación especial en pediatría para poder brindar a los niños atención de la más alta calidad.

The PICU at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital provides the highest level of care for children who may be healing from an injury or receiving treatment for a condition. Our PICU is designed for kids of all ages, with colorful halls and patient rooms. The pediatric critical care specialists at our hospital will work together to make sure your child receives high-quality treatment and support in a healing environment.

Our PICU is equipped to treat children who need the highest level of care. Conditions commonly treated in the PICU include:

  • Crises related to blood disorders
  • Diabetes complications
  • Injuries from serious accidents
  • Severe breathing problems
  • Serious infections

PICU treatments and services

Our PICU has advanced equipment and compassionate staff committed to helping children get better. Services commonly provided in the PICU include:

  • 24/7 monitoring with machines that can measure your child's blood pressure, blood oxygen level and heart rate
  • Feeding tube support
  • Intravenous (IV) therapy for fluids or medication
  • Lab or imaging tests to provide more information about your child's medical condition
  • Medication administration
  • Ventilator support when your child needs extra help breathing

We also work with our pediatric emergency department to provide a seamless transition to the PICU if needed.
