Okeechobee, FL — HCA Florida Raulerson Hospital, a 100-bed acute care facility that has been serving the healthcare needs of Okeechobee and surrounding counties for more than 45 years, is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Derek McCranie to its surgical specialists’ team. Dr. McCranie, a highly-skilled general surgeon, brings expertise in robotic-assisted and laparoscopic surgeries to our operating rooms.
A native of Okeechobee, Dr. McCranie returns to his roots with a commitment to serving the community that has been integral to his personal and professional development. His local insight and medical expertise will enhance the quality of care available to Okeechobee residents.
Dr. McCranie joins us following the completion of his residency at Atlanta Medical Center, a Level 1 Trauma Center. During his residency, he honed his skills across a wide range of procedures, from emergent trauma operations to elective surgeries. His advanced training and dedication to surgical excellence make him a valuable asset to the Okeechobee community.
Dr. McCranie’s academic journey is marked by notable achievements. He earned his medical degree from Florida State University, where he was a consistent presence on the Dean’s List. Additionally, he founded and continues to serve as president of Medical Education through Art.
