HCA Florida Healthcare supports efforts to assist cancer survivors in Marion County

Ocala, FL — HCA Florida Healthcare is proud to be a gold sponsor of the 15th Annual Fundraiser for HUGS Charity.
The event, held Feb. 24 in Ocala, honored local cancer survivor Tom Ingram. HCA Florida Ocala Hospital CEO Alan Keesee, Dr. George Rossidis, MD, and Lisa McGuire, oncology director for both HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and HCA Florida West Marion, represented the hospitals at the fundraiser.
One of the primary missions of HUGS is to raise funds for the research, prevention, detection, and treatment of all forms of cancer. The organization also provides financial assistance to individuals and families who need help with expenses while in cancer treatment. In 2024, HUGS provided almost $94,000 in financial assistance to Marion County cancer patients.
The American College of Surgeons’ (ACS) Commission on Cancer has recognized HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and HCA Florida West Marion for their comprehensive community cancer programs, which include prevention, screening, education, treatment and recovery therapies. The ACS has also accredited both hospitals under its National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, which guides breast centers in providing comprehensive breast care based on scientific evidence.
