Sun City Center, Fla. — HCA Florida South Shore Hospital recently completed a Most Miles challenge during Heart Month in February. All colleagues were encouraged to participate in tracking their daily miles walked to promote Heart Month and to raise awareness about the importance of physical activity in preventing heart disease. South Shore Hospital is committed to empowering our team to take charge of their health through regular exercise and healthy lifestyle choices.
“I am thrilled by the level of participation within our hospital for the Heart Month Most Miles challenge. Physical activity, such as walking or running, is a simple yet effective way to maintain a healthy heart. By coming together as a hospital to take part in this challenge, we hope to inspire others to adopt heart-healthy habits that can last a lifetime,” said Cathy Edmisten, CEO of HCA Florida South Shore Hospital.
Participants had the opportunity to compete for prizes including department lunches for the most miles walked in a single department as well as $100 to the colleague with the most individual miles accumulated in February.
South Shore Hospital colleagues accumulated over 8,200 recorded miles with the Rehabilitation Department walking over 2,400 miles alone!
