HCA Florida Capital Hospital is honored to announce the hospital has once again, been recognized with a 2024 Patient Safety Excellence Award™ from Healthgrades, a comprehensive database of ratings and comparisons for physicians, hospitals and healthcare providers. This marks 5 years in-a-row that HCA Florida Capital Hospital has been named among the top 5% in the nation for Patient Safety. HCA Florida Capital Hospital is also among 31 HCA Florida Healthcare hospitals recognized by Healthgrades this year for high-quality care and prevention of serious safety events during hospital stays.
“At HCA Florida Capital Hospital, patient safety is our highest priority,” said Chris Mosley, Chief Executive Officer. “Being in the top 5% in the nation speaks to our commitment to ensure that our patients receive the safest, most personalized medical care possible. We are dedicated to our investment in clinical quality and patient care, and providing an outstanding patient experience. We appreciate all of the contributions our hospital team members and providers have made to make this award possible.”
“As consumers take a more hands-on approach to their healthcare journeys, hospital quality should be a top consideration when choosing where to receive care,” said Brad Bowman, M.D., chief medical officer and head of data science at Healthgrades. “Our goal at Healthgrades is to offer direct, data-driven insights on the hospitals that make the safety and experience of their patients a top priority and consistently deliver exceptional results in this aspect of care. With this information, consumers can feel confident they’re making the most informed decisions about their healthcare.”
According to this year’s Healthgrades report, if all hospitals observed the same protocols as those in this category, they could have avoided more than 97,000 patient safety events between 2020 and 2022. The analysis revealed that patients treated at award recipient hospitals are significantly less likely to experience serious safety events compared to patients treated at non-recipient hospitals. The 2024 Patient Safety Excellence Award™ was presented to hospitals in the nation based on an analysis of required data reporting in 13 patient safety measures. Read more about the methodology here.
