Port Charlotte, FL – HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital has completed phase one of its $60-million expansion and renovation project that increases the hospital’s capacity and broadens its offerings. Officially open to the public on May 13, the project included expanding critical care units by 12 rooms, increasing the number of pre-operative treatment areas to 43 bays, renovation of the main lobby, waiting rooms and registration areas and the addition of a chapel and coffee shop. The coffee shop will be occupied by Los Dos Christianos Coffee in June.  Patients and visitors can now find the main entrance off Olean Boulevard.

The entire project includes 40,000 square feet of new space and 20,000 of renovated space.  Phase two will include expansion to the hospital’s operating room capacity from 10 to 12 suites and is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2024.

“We are very excited about the project’s success and this investment in the health of our community,” explained Michael Ehrat, chief executive officer at HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital. “This expansion underscores our commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of our patients and residents of the many communities in Charlotte County and surrounding areas, we are privileged to serve.”

Since its founding in 1975, HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital has been providing nationally recognized, quality care to the community. Over the past several years, the hospital has experienced significant growth and demand for its services.
