HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital distributes 3,300 gallons of fuel to colleagues and hosts complimentary Mini Mart
Port Charlotte, FL (October 14, 2024) – In a quick response effort to the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital set up on-site Mini Marts and fuel stations to assist colleagues with needed resources. In addition, the HCA Healthcare Hope Fund is available to support colleagues in disasters such as this. The HCA Healthcare Hope Fund is an employee-run, employee-supported 501(c)(3) charity that provides financial aid and resources to employees after an extended illness, injury, disaster or other special situations.
“In addition to the deployment of volunteers, supplies were distributed to Fawcett Hospital as soon as roads were safe for travel,” said Michael Ehrat, Chief Executive Officer at HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital. The emergency response teams established Mini Marts and fuel trucks. Colleagues without power and water at home had access to what they needed, including food, hotel accommodations and fuel. We know from previous experience, in times like these, the support of HCA Healthcare is unmatched.”
The hospital distributed over 3,300 gallons of complimentary fuel this past weekend and over 1,000 bags of groceries to colleagues. Fawcett Hospital reopened its doors to the public just several hours after the storm passed to begin serving the community.
