Joseph Mixon
Joseph, a stroke survivor, cherishes the care he received at Orange Park's ER and Inpatient Rehabilitation Center.
At age 84, Joseph Mixon experienced a fall that landed him in the Orange Park Hospital emergency room. It was discovered that Joseph had suffered from a stroke. He spent four days in the hospital.
For his recovery, Joseph spent 24 days at the Orange Park Hospital Inpatient Rehabilitation Center.
When he arrived at rehab, he needed assistance to move and accomplish the daily tasks required to live independently.
When it was time to go home, Joseph felt sad to leave his care team, safe to be on his own and excited to get back home to his gardening. “Jessica, Arlene, Remick and Rhea are just a few of the nurses and therapists that turned into family during my stay,” said Joseph. “Everyone pushed me and I appreciate them for that. This is the best place for rehab and I would recommend it to anyone.”
Joseph looks forward to coming back to the center to visit and share his homegrown vegetables with the team, especially his extra tasty sweet potatoes.
