Terri Anderson
Terri Anderson's faster recover was thanks to the use of robotic technology and the experts at Oviedo Medical Center.
As a retail employee, Terri Anderson was accustomed to walking and standing for long periods of time. Unfortunately, her chronic knee pain made her job increasingly difficult. To ease her discomfort, Terri took pain pills daily and visited her doctor regularly for cortisone shots.
At home, Terri spent more and more time on the couch and relied on a walker or motorized scooter to go to the store and run errands. After falling asleep on the couch one night, Terri woke up with debilitating pain in her swollen knee. She attempted to stand, but was unable to move. That's when Terri came to terms with the fact that she could no longer put off the inevitable - she needed a knee replacement and she needed one soon.
Terri had already had one knee replaced, so she thought she knew what to expect from the surgery and recovery. But then her doctor told her about a new option — robotic assisted knee surgery at Oviedo Medical Center. When Terri arrived at the hospital for her scheduled robotic surgery, her experience at the hospital was excellent from the start.
“I never had to wait for anything, and the procedure went just like my doctor said it would, Terri said. “When I got out of surgery, they had me up walking to the bathroom in less than an hour. And they took the time to answer my questions and explain why this immediate movement was necessary in my recovery.”
As her recovery continues, Terri looks forward to being able to do all the things she loves — walking, visiting the theme parks and being independent — free from pain.
“I feel so much better now, and I regret that I put this surgery off for so long. My recovery has been faster this time, thanks to the use of robotic technology,” Terri said. “The care team at Oviedo Medical Center made this process easier than I thought possible. From their professionalism, expertise and friendliness, you can tell they truly care about their patients. I'll be forever grateful to them for their help in restoring my independence and quality of life.”
