Putnam Hospital Donates $10,000 to Help Local Food Bank Stay Open in Palatka
Hospital donation allows local food bank to continue feeding vulnerable families in Putnam County.
Palatka, FL — HCA Florida Putnam Hospital today donated $10,000 to the Epic-Cure food bank to support its continued service to the community.
Epic-Cure distributes between $1-1.5 million worth of food to seniors, families with children, veterans, and people with disabilities in Putnam County every month. On Aug.19, the organization’s lease for its Palatka food distribution warehouse was terminated unexpectedly. The food bank is raising funds to cover the costly move in order to continue providing food assistance for hundreds of families in the area.
“Epic-Cure is honored by the support of HCA Florida Healthcare in the battle for the good of our community,” said Sunny Mulford, co-founder and executive director of Epic-Cure. “It is with partners like HCA Florida Putnam Hospital that we can continue to improve the social, economic, and educational outcomes of the good people of Putnam County and beyond.”
HCA Florida Putnam Hospital Chief Executive Officer Landon Smith presented the donation, along with several hospital team and board members.
“Epic-Cure’s food bank and pantry represent hope and dignity as well as nutritious meals for families facing tough times,” CEO Smith said. “I am grateful HCA Florida Putnam Hospital is able to help keep this organization and its important work in Palatka.”
Epic-Cure has until Dec. 1, 2024, to vacate its prior location. The nonprofit organization is working to raise an estimated $100,000 to cover refrigeration equipment relocation costs and any required modifications to a new building.
