Largo, FL – Together, in partnership with United Way Suncoast, HCA Florida Largo West Hospital staff celebrated mental health awareness month by assembling 150 mental health kits.  These kits will be distributed to local resource centers throughout our community for adults experiencing financial hardship. Each kit included a variety of self-care items, a personal journal, 30-day mindfulness guide and other mental health resources.

“It’s important for our community to know that we are here for them, in addition to the healthcare services we provide.  By volunteering with this unique opportunity through United Way Suncoast, our colleagues have made an impact outside their usual job duties” shared Tiffany Briggs, Director of Communications and Community Engagement at HCA Florida Largo Hospital.

“United Way Suncoast has served the community for 100 years by elevating early learning, energizing middle and high school students and empowering community members and families. Through their programs, they support ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) families, those households that live paycheck to paycheck and stand one unexpected expense away from dire circumstances. All parents, whether they work outside the home, are at risk of burnout. That can have an impact on the whole family, especially when the parent is the single head of the household. Through this partnership with HCA Healthcare and United Way Suncoast, health professionals will come together to volunteer and assemble 150 mental health kits that will be distributed to parents and families served through United Way Suncoast programs.” shared Brittany McMillen, Manager of Philanthropic Engagement at United Way Suncoast.
