Imaging services
Imaging exams allow radiologists (imaging specialists) and physicians to view structures and activity within the body. This is vital for diagnosis but also for treatment, to ensure your care plan is working as it should.

Diagnostic imaging we offer
Imaging may be used to diagnose and track the progress of certain treatments for conditions and diseases. For example, we may use angiography screening to check your heart health, perform exams before and after surgery.
Some of the imaging tests we use at Oviedo Medical Center include:
- 64-slice CT scans
- Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scans (used to determine bone density as part of orthopedic care)
- Fluoroscopy exams
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans
- Nuclear medicine
- Ultrasound (often used as part of labor and delivery services)
Breast health
We provide advanced breast care to patients of all ages. We use the latest diagnostic imaging technology to detect breast cancer and other breast abnormalities in their earliest and most treatable stages.
3D mammography
3D mammography is a screening and diagnostic tool that takes multiple images, or X-rays, of breast tissue to recreate a 3D picture of the breast. These multiple images of breast tissue give doctors a clearer image of breast masses, making it easier to detect breast cancer.
Breast ultrasounds
Ultrasound imaging is used to help diagnose breast lumps or other abnormalities found during a physical exam or on a mammogram or breast MRI. Ultrasound is safe, noninvasive, and does not use radiation.
Breast MRI
Breast MRI is a noninvasive imaging technique that does not involve exposure to ionizing radiation and, in addition to mammography, has been shown to be useful in evaluating persons at high risk for breast cancer. It can successfully image the dense breast tissue common in younger patients, and it can successfully image breast implants.
Upright stereotactic breast biopsy
A stereotactic breast biopsy is a procedure using mammography to precisely identify and biopsy an abnormality within the breast. It is less invasive than a surgical biopsy, requires less recovery time and causes minimal scarring.
Low-dose CT lung screening program
Oviedo Medical Center encourages all partners to prioritize low dose CT lung screenings (LDCT) and identify at-risk patients. To support doctors in the proactive identification and treatment of at-risk patients, our LDCT screening and nodule program is a comprehensive and multidisciplinary platform focused on early-stage cancer detection.
We aim to provide patients at risk for developing lung cancer with individualized, evidence-based LDCT screenings and care management. We have a team of lung nodule coordinators dedicated to ensuring patients receive effective, efficient and compassionate care as well as continued long-term support.
The comprehensive lung program provides the opportunity to screen for and diagnose early-stage lung cancer.
Who qualifies for a lung screening?
- Adults 55 to 80 years old
- Those with no current signs or symptoms of lung cancer
- Patients who have had a shared decision-making meeting with PCP
- Current smokers with at least a 30-pack-year history
- Former smokers who have quit within the past 15 years with a 30-pack-year history
- Pack-year history calculated as number of packs of cigarettes smoked per day multiplied by number of years individual has smoked (e.g., one pack per day for 30 years or two packs per day for 15 years, etc.)
