AACN Honors HCA Ocala & West Marion Hospital for Exceptional Critical-Care Nursing

Nursing Units at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and HCA Florida West Marion Hospital nationally recognized for exceptional care by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses

The Beacon Awards signify a significant milestone on the path to exceptional patient care and achieving a healthy work environment

Ocala, FL  – The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) recently conferred gold-level Beacon Awards for Excellence on the Neurological Intensive Care Unit at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and the Intensive Care Unit at HCA Florida West Marion Hospital. The organization conferred a silver-level Beacon Award for Excellence on the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital. 

The Beacon Award for Excellence recognizes unit caregivers who successfully improve patient outcomes and align practices with AACN’s six Healthy Work Environment Standards. Units that achieve this three-year, three-level award with gold, silver or bronze designations meet national criteria consistent with the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®, the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and the National Quality Healthcare Award.

AACN President Beth Wathen, MSN, APRN, CCRN-K, applauds the caregivers at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital’s Neurological Intensive Care Unit and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit and the Intensive Care Unit at HCA Florida West Marion Hospital for working together to meet and exceed the high standards set forth by the Beacon Award for Excellence. These dedicated healthcare professionals set the standard for optimal patient care.

The gold-level Beacon Award for Excellence earned by Neurological Intensive Care Unit at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and the Intensive Care Unit at HCA Florida West Marion Hospital signifies an effective and systematic approach to policies, procedures and processes that include engagement of staff and key stakeholders; fact-based evaluation strategies for continuous process improvement; and performance measures that meet or exceed relevant benchmarks. Recipients who earn a silver-level award, such as the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, demonstrate an effective approach to policies, procedures and processes that include engagement of staff and key stakeholders; evaluation and improvement strategies; and good performance measures when compared to relevant benchmarks.
