Smart Knee technology allows surgeons to keep up with patients during recovery
HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital performs first knee replacement in Charlotte County with latest technology
HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital is excited to announce the completion of the first smart knee procedure in Charlotte County, a cutting-edge technology in knee replacement. The hospital orthopedic team along with orthopedic surgeon, Jason Reiss, DO, performed the surgery on excited patient, Rebecca Sedar.
The smart knee device is part of the joint replacement prosthesis. It contains a small Bluetooth sensor that measures her range of motion, step count and walking speed throughout his day. Data is downloaded at night through a modem in her home and sent to a cloud-based platform. She can look at the data on an app on her phone or laptop to track her progress.
“I came for the best,” said Rebecca. “That’s why I chose Fawcett Hospital and Dr. Reiss.”
“Smart Knee technology is transforming the way we approach orthopedic care,” said Dr. Jason Reiss, orthopedic surgeon. “By providing real-time mobility data, it allows both surgeons and patients to better understand movement patterns, optimize treatment plans, and enhance recovery. This innovation is a major step forward in delivering personalized and effective knee care.”
