St. Petersburg Hospital welcomes Major Matthew Furse to Board of Trustees

Furse has served the St. Petersburg Police Department since 2003 and currently commands the Special Operations Division.

St. Petersburg, Fla. — HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital is pleased to welcome Major Matthew Furse to its Board of Trustees. A dedicated leader with more than two decades of law enforcement experience, Furse has served the St. Petersburg Police Department since 2003 and currently commands the Special Operations Division.

A St. Petersburg native, Furse began his career as a Patrol Officer and quickly rose through the ranks to Sergeant, Lieutenant and Major. His extensive experience spans Vice and Narcotics, Major Crimes (formerly Homicide) and Patrol Operations. 

As a member of the HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital Board of Trustees, Furse will play a leadership role in shaping the hospital’s strategic vision and identifying opportunities for the hospital to make a positive impact in the community.

Furse holds a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies from St. Petersburg College and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Homeland Security and Leadership Policy from Northcentral University.

He and his wife, Natasha, are proud parents to four sons: Jeremiah (20), Josiah (13), Jadon (12) and Jonah (7).
