34 HCA Florida Healthcare hospitals lead nation for patient safety
More than 70% of HCA Florida Healthcare hospitals are leaders in patient safety. The statewide network recently announced 34 of its hospitals received the 2025 Patient Safety Excellence Award™ by Healthgrades, the leading site Americans use when searching for a hospital or doctor. Nearly 75% these facilities are receiving this recognition for the third consecutive year. This achievement reflects the network’s clear commitment to safe, patient-centered care and puts HCA Florida Healthcare in the top performers nationally for patient safety.
In addition to this recognition for patient safety, 14 HCA Florida Healthcare hospitals were recently named among America’s 150 Best Hospitals for overall clinical care, achievements further underscoring the organization’s commitment to delivering compassionate, individualized care at every step of the patient journey.
“As one of the state’s leading healthcare networks, HCA Florida Healthcare is committed to the care and improvement of human life. This mission drives our pursuit of delivering excellent care through our more than 8.6 million patient encounters throughout Florida each year. We are proud that more than two-thirds of our facilities across the state continue to receive recognition from Healthgrades for providing safe and accessible healthcare to Floridians, and we appreciate the efforts of our care teams to ensure a high-quality patient experience,” said Richard Hammett, president, Atlantic Group, HCA Healthcare.
These achievements are based solely on what matters most: patient outcomes. To determine the top-performing hospitals for patient safety, Healthgrades evaluated risk-adjusted complication and mortality rates for approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide. The annual study found that patients treated in hospitals that received the 2025 Patient Safety Excellence Award have a significantly lower chance of experiencing one of the leading safety indicators, such as falls prevention or hospital-acquired infections.
“As 2025 Patient Safety Excellence Award recipients, HCA Florida Healthcare hospitals consistently puts the well-being of their patients and staff at the forefront, setting a high standard for patient safety nationwide,” said Debra Gradick, MD FACEP, senior physician consultant at Healthgrades. “We commend the statewide network for providing consistently exceptional care while preventing serious injuries, giving patients their best chance of a seamless recovery.”
