Robert's Story

An extremely grateful patient wanted to share his story of how two of our surgeons at Northwest saved his life. Robert said, “When I got my cancer diagnosis, I went to my oncologist and immediately received chemo and radiation. I met Dr. Shaw and Dr. Johnson and quickly realized they were very capable surgeons. Dr. Shaw and Dr. Johnson did a very complicated surgery on me and saved my life.”
This was the first esophagectomy performed at HCA Florida Northwest Hospital with Dr. Joshua Shaw and Dr. Sean Johnson. “I had surgery on Wednesday, November 23rd, before Thanksgiving and I now feel great. I should be in pain, but I feel great. Dr. Shaw and Dr. Johnson said this is what we are going to do and did it. They worked together to save my life. I am very happy to share my story and thankful for them. Thank you for saving my life!”
