The Bowers are thankful to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with their family thanks to the lifesaving actions of our partners from Kissimmee Fire/EMS Rescue Station 12 and the care Bill Bowers received at HCA Florida Osceola Hospital’s Heart and Vascular Institute.

In May 24, 2024, Bill was working on the roof of this home when he started to feel ill. Coming down to check in with his wife, he quickly asked his wife Martha to call 911.  While Martha was following instructions from 911 dispatchers, Bill’s suffered a cardiac arrest, a sudden cessation of the functioning of the heart. Bill stated that “I serve a remarkable God who I believe made everything happen the way it did, by having the right people at the right time.”

Bill received immediate intervention by local responders who revived him by shocking his heart and quickly transferring him to HCA Florida Osceola Hospital, where the emergency and cardiology team treated and cared for Bill until he was discharged eight days later.

“Everything that I’ve read, with statistics about people who suffer cardiac arrests at their home, don’t usually make it. But everything worked out. I’m here now and I feel like the day before”, said Bill, accompanied by his wife.  “We just want to thank you all.”
