After feeling congested and coughing for a few weeks at home, I became concerned when my condition began to worsen. When I started running a fever, I didn't hesitate to ask my wife to drive me to Poinciana Hospital, where we've always received great care. I'm a proud US Military Veteran and even though I have great benefits through the VA Healthcare system, I always choose Poinciana Hospital for my healthcare needs.

Upon our arrival at the hospital, the Emergency Department quickly assessed my condition and, because of the fever, took extra precautions in the event I had COVID-19. This included placing me in a private room under quarantine, separating me from other patients and staff, with no visitors allowed. Since I hadn't left my house in three weeks prior to being admitted, I was confident I would test negative for the virus. However, I appreciated all the additional health and safety measures the staff followed prior to receiving my negative test results.

During my quarantine period, I found the second-floor staff especially caring and attentive, which was a great comfort while my wife couldn't visit me. The hospitalist took the time to answer all my questions and ordered numerous tests to ensure an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan. Every member of my care team went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable, and they never left me in the dark about my health.

Upon my release from the hospital, I was sent home with some additional medications and today I am continuing to recover. I'm grateful that I followed my instincts and visited the hospital — even amid a global pandemic. I would recommend Poinciana Hospital to anyone who feels they need medical attention and commend the hospital staff on their excellence in serving and protecting both COVID and non-COVID patients alike.
