Lawnwood Hospital receives toy donation for hospitalized children
Lawnwood Hospital received more than $3,000 in toys and clothing from the Love From Lincoln Foundation.
HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital, a 435-bed full-service acute care facility and part of HCA Florida Healthcare, the largest healthcare system in the state, today received more than $3,000 in toys and clothing from the Love From Lincoln Foundation.
The foundation is named after Lincoln Cassle, who was born on Thursday, December 8, 2022. Just days after birth, Lincoln fell ill due to sepsis and passed away on December 16, 2022.
“Lawnwood Hospital did everything they could to save him,” said grandmother Lois Cassle. “As a family, we want to give back to the hospital to that tried to save Lincoln.”
To highlight Lincoln's eight days of life, his family created the Love From Lincoln Foundation to celebrate his birthday while giving back to the community.
“We are honored the Love From Lincoln Foundation chose Lawnwood Hospital’s pediatric patients to receive this generous donation,” said Lawnwood Hospital children’s services director Marissa O’Dowd. “It’s heartwarming to see our youngest patients light up with joy and happiness when they receive donations from the community.”
Lawnwood Hospital features a 12-bed pediatric unit and 6-bed pediatric ICU specifically designed to meet the needs of newborns, young children and adolescents. It is the only facility on the Treasure Coast with a pediatric intensive care unit and is home to the largest Level III NICU. Lawnwood Hospital also has a dedicated pediatric emergency room staffed with board-certified emergency physicians specially trained in pediatric medicine.
