HCA Florida Healthcare labor and delivery services awarded for quality, performance

HCA Florida Healthcare hospitals earn recognition from peers, patients and quality organizations for labor and delivery services.

June 28, 2024

HCA Florida University Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) was recently honored by its peers as an exemplary nursing unit as part of HCA Healthcare’s Units of Distinction awards program. This designation is achieved through measurable, exemplary performance in the strategic areas of advocacy and leadership, consistency in nursing practice and operations and leveraging scale to improve patient care. The Level III NICU provides critical care for low birth weight or premature babies.

The honor also demonstrates University Hospital’s efforts alongside HCA Florida Healthcare to serve as a provider of choice for expecting families across the state seeking quality care. As one of the state’s largest network of healthcare providers, HCA Florida Healthcare offers patients access to the staff and resources needed to handle any birthing situation including both routine and more medically complex pregnancies.

As a testament to this, HCA Florida Healthcare hospitals received national recognition from Healthgrades, the nation’s longest-running third party hospital ratings organization, for the quality of their labor and delivery services in 2023, including:

Wireless fetal monitoring allows clinical staff to watch a patient’s heart rate and uterine activity and the baby’s heart rate using Bluetooth. This allows laboring mothers to move around their rooms instead of feeling confined to a bed.

Each year, HCA Florida Healthcare, which includes more than 650 affiliated sites of care across the state, delivers more than 32,000 babies. Its team of board-certified obstetricians, certified nurse midwives and certified nurses understand family-centered care and provide the right kind of support throughout the birthing process.
