HCA Florida Citrus Hospital continues Cancer Survivorship series with gardening seminar

HCA Florida Citrus Hospital is partnering with the Citrus Garden Club for its next lecture in the Cancer Survivorship Series.

July 15, 2024

Inverness, FL – HCA Florida Citrus Hospital will continue its cancer survivorship series on Tuesday, August 13 at 5:30pm in HCA Florida Citrus Hospital’s Gulf Room, located in the hospital’s historic school building at 502 W Highland Blvd in Inverness.

“Garden Your Way to Health and Healing” will be guided by gardening expert Sandra Hume. Besides promoting exercise, studies have shown that simply spending time in a garden alleviates stress, lowers blood pressure, encourages healthier eating and improves sleep. Additional benefits of gardening include a workout for the respiratory and cardiovascular systems and can improve strength, endurance and flexibility. Gardening also fits into the long-established understanding that peaceful, bright open spaces make for better healing conditions, whether indoors or out. Hume and members of the Citrus Garden Club will further discuss the benefits of gardening, provide a hands-on gardening project for attendees to take home and discuss local opportunities to enhance your own gardening journey.

Cancer survivorship begins at diagnosis and refers to anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer, no matter where they are in the course of their disease. All are welcome to attend. Seating is limited so an RSVP is required. Call (855) 422-8474 or visit HCAFloridaHealthcare.com to reserve your seat.
