HCA Florida Englewood Hospital named among Nation's Top 5% for Patient Safety

As a 2025 Patient Safety Excellence Award™ recipient, Englewood Hospital prioritizes patient and staff well-being, setting a national standard for safety.

HCA Florida Englewood Hospital has been recognized with the prestigious 2025 Patient Safety Excellence Award™ from Healthgrades, placing it among the top 5% of hospitals nationwide for patient safety. This marks the seventh consecutive year (2019-2025) the hospital has ranked among the top 10% or better in the nation for patient safety performance.

In addition to its national recognition for patient safety, HCA Florida Englewood Hospital earned several Five-Star honors for excellence in key service areas, including:

  • Cardiac - Pacemaker Procedures (2025)
  • Orthopedic - Hip Fracture Treatment for 10 Years in a Row (2016-2025)
  • Critical Care - Treatment of Diabetic Emergencies for 3 Years in a Row (2023-2025)

These accolades reinforce the hospital's dedication to providing safe, individualized care at every stage of the patient journey.

Healthgrades evaluates approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide using risk-adjusted complication and mortality rates to determine top-performing facilities. Patients treated at hospitals recognized with the Patient Safety Excellence Award experienced significantly lower risks for these complications:

  • 54% less likely to experience an in-hospital fall resulting in fracture
  • 55% less likely to suffer a collapsed lung due to a procedure or surgery in or around the chest
  • 69% less likely to develop pressure sores or bed sores acquired in the hospital
  • 72% less likely to contract a catheter-related bloodstream infection
