HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital recognized for coronary excellence
The distinction means that the hospital is among the top 10% in the nation for Coronary Interventional Procedures in 2024.
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP)—A Bay Couty hospital has been recognized for its work in the coronary field.
Healthgrades is a physician rating and comparison database that provides assessments of hospitals, and they’ve given the 2025 Coronary Intervention Excellence Award to HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital in Panama City.
NewsChannel 7 is told the award is given annually to a hospital that goes above and beyond when it comes to intervening during heart-related issues so that the issues don’t rise to dangerous levels.
HCA also ranks highly in some specific categories. The hospital is a Five-Star Recipient for Coronary Interventional Procedures in 2025, a Five-Star Recipient for Defibrillator Procedures for a second straight year, and a Five-Star Recipient for Pacemaker Procedures for a seventh year in a row.
Officials at the hospital say they are proud to serve Bay County.
“We love taking care of our patients, and we’re even more ecstatic to get recognized for the care that we have been doing for years. It’s very personal to us,” said Star Roberts, Director of Cardiovascular Services for HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital. “This is our home, this is our community, and most of the employees will tell you, this is our hospital, so we take care of people like they’re our family.”
