TAMPA, FL — January is Thyroid Awareness Month and HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital is recognizing the month by celebrating the second anniversary of the opening of The Hospital for Endocrine Surgery, a part of HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital.  For two consecutive years, The Hospital for Endocrine Surgery has served as a worldwide destination for endocrine surgery, focused on optimal outcomes in thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal tumors and cancers.

Thyroid Awareness Month is a time to educate the public about thyroid disease, including the detection of thyroid abnormalities and the importance of early treatment of thyroid nodules.  The team of leading experts at The Hospital for Endocrine Surgery has dedicated their careers to caring for patients with thyroid disease and thyroid cancer.  “Raising awareness about thyroid health empowers individuals to recognize the early signs of thyroid disorders, prompting timely medical attention and intervention for accurate diagnosis and effective treatment”, says Gary Clayman, MD, thyroid surgeon.  “Thyroid Awareness Month is an opportunity to raise awareness about thyroid disease, which affects individuals across all ages and demographics.”

HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital and The Hospital for Endocrine Surgery encourage everyone to regularly have their thyroid checked. With early detection and treatment, many individuals quickly return to their normal routines.
