HCA Florida Kendall Hospital welcomes new assistant chief medical officer
HCA Florida Kendall Hospital announces the appointment of Dr. David Colvin as the new assistant chief medical officer. Dr. Colvin is an experienced physician leader and pediatric intensivist.
Dr. Colvin comes to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital from Providence Swedish, in Seattle, where he was the medical director of the pediatric intensive care unit, pediatric procedural sedation and pediatric critical care transport programs. During his time with Providence Swedish, he was the previous system chief of pediatrics and chief of staff-elect for the First Hill campus where he led quality initiatives and provided leadership for women’s and children’s programs, medical staff peer review and pediatric programmatic development.
Before his time in Seattle, Dr. Colvin was a pediatric intensivist with Pediatrix medical group at HCA Sunrise Children’s Hospital in Las Vegas, where he served as the residency clinical site director and medical director of pediatric and neonatal critical care transport. He has also practiced in HCA Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center as well as multiple hospital systems in California, Idaho, Washington and Nevada.
“In his new role, Dr. Colvin will play a crucial part in evaluating quality measures, medical staff services, infection prevention, utilization review, morbidity and mortality, and readmissions. His expertise in quality improvement and peer review will be instrumental in maintaining the high standards of care at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital,” said Dr. Sean Benoit, chief medical officer.
Dr. Colvin completed pediatric residency at the University of Nevada and pediatric critical care fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine.
