Mother exuberant after bringing home one of the smallest babies born at Northwest Hospital

Lauren Lockett was born at HCA Florida Northwest Hospital in Margate at just one pound, after 22 weeks and six days in gestation.

"Baby Lauren is one of the smallest babies to be born at Northwest”, Vargabi Ghei, M.D., a neonatologist and chief of pediatrics at HCA Florida Northwest Hospital said. 

The mother credited the hospital NICU staff, doctors, family and her faith with getting her and her baby through the initial trauma of Lauren’s premature birth. She still recalls the day she brought her baby home. “It was the best day of my life,” Boyd said. The hospital staff, pompoms in hand, cheered as the couple wheeled Lauren through the hallways to the exit.
