St. Petersburg, FL – No more cramped quarters during magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI, at HCA Florida Northside Hospital in Pinellas County. The hospital has made a significant investment using the latest technology and most state-of-the-art diagnostics while keeping patient comfort top of mind.

The new MRI features a wider opening and revolutionary lightweight comfort technology that wraps around patients like a blanket, making MRI scans more comfortable for people of all sizes.

"This design dramatically reduces anxiety and claustrophobia, allowing more patients to complete their necessary diagnostic imaging,” said Dr. Jabr Hadid, chief medical officer at Northside Hospital. “The investment shows our commitment to making sure physicians have the detailed images they need for an accurate diagnosis without sacrificing the experience for the patient.”

The system's advanced design also allows for whole-body imaging without repositioning and reduces the time it takes to achieve a complete scan. There is also added technology for cardiac MRI, bringing a new level of diagnostics to Northside Hospital

“This is the beginning of several significant investments we will be making in the next year that will raise the bar on care in our community,” said Phil Marchesini, chief executive officer. “We care for over 42,000 patients annually and are committed to making sure they have the highest level of care possible close to home.”

The hospital recently received Top 250 recognition from Healthgrades, and ranks in the Top 10% nationwide for critical care with additional recognition for its cardiac care.
