Nurse makes positive impact with patients, recognized with DAISY Award
Patient nominates nurse for international nursing award.
HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital recently presented Teirra Wetherell, RN with the DAISY Award. This is an international award that recognizes outstanding nurses for their clinical skills and compassion they provide patients. Wetherell has been a nurse at HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital for a year and works in the medical surgical unit.
A patient nominated Wetherell for the DAISY Award saying, “Teirra’s care and compassion kept me grounded and cared for in ways that words can hardly express. Her dedication and empathy were evident every step of the way…(her) presence provided not only medical support but also a reassuring sense of genuine concern that played a big part in my recovery…” When asked why she chose the nursing profession, Wetherell said, “I love making people feel comfortable and being there for them in their most vulnerable times.”
The DAISY Foundation sponsors this award for nurses around the world to recognize them for extraordinary compassion and skillful care. Nurses can be nominated by patients, families or their peers.
