Ralph Jones

Hip replacement surgery patient Ralph Jones describes his exceptional care with the procedure performed by Capital Hospital's Dr. Jason Oberste.

Ralph Jones is feeling better than he has in years following hip replacement surgery at Capital Hospital. The Bainbridge, Georgia resident underwent the procedure, performed by Jason Oberste, MD, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon.

Dr. Oberste used the anterior hip replacement approach which allows the surgeon to access the hip joint through the front and does not require any muscles to be cut. Because the muscles are not removed, it is less traumatic for the patient, allowing for quicker recovery.

Mr. Jones said the entire experience from pre-operative education and testing, through surgery, and his care afterward, was exceptional. "I've had surgery at another hospital where it just seemed chaotic. At Capital Hospital they are so much more focused on you as a person. I didn't feel like they were rushed. When I arrived at the hospital, I was greeted by someone who escorted me to the pre-operative area. They made sure I was comfortable, answered my questions, and made me feel like I was the only patient they had to take care of."

"The people there are very warm and personable. They are professional and skilled at what they do, but deliver their service in a caring way. Before I was discharged home the physical therapist made sure I knew what to do, and what not to do, as I healed," he said. "I was able to go home after just one day in the hospital. They took great care of me."

"I'd recommend Capital Hospital and Dr. Oberste to anyone needing surgery," he said. "If I have surgery again, I will definitely go back. It's my preferred hospital to get the best care."
