Emergency services
The mission of the emergency services department is to deliver high-quality critical, emergent and urgent care, while maintaining a safe, respectful and non-discriminatory environment. We accomplish this by providing 24/7 care via our 23 beds (including seven urgent care rooms) and experienced personnel, including emergency physicians, emergency medicine midlevel providers and registered nurses (RN). These RNs are certified in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS) and trauma (TNCC).
Our emergency staff work together to give optimal patient care, share health and safety skills and knowledge with the community and train students in various health care professions. We have strong team cohesiveness, accountability, clinical experience, independence and flexibility.
Services
Our emergency department offers two distinct services to meet patient needs.
- Fast Track — The area designed to provide rapid care for illnesses and injuries that are not life-threatening, open seven days a week, 11:00am to 11:00pm.
- Main Emergency Department — 24-hour equipment and services for treating stable, urgent and emergent illnesses and injuries.
A note from our director
Panama City has a small town feel, but with big city advantages and so much to offer! It is easy to get to know people and we have vibrant performing arts, cultural events, wine tastings, art exhibits, music festivals, and even great parks for kids too. At the hospital, we enjoy celebrating birthdays (monthly), as well as having luncheons, pot lucks, parties and showers. Even dinners outside of work! We also keep a photo board in our lounge to highlight our celebrations and milestones.
My management style revolves around self-governance. I believe I am our mediator, and am able to give the team the power and tools to do what they need for the ER to be a high functioning department. Our leadership team is unlike any other, with a very flexible, open-door and family-oriented style. We are looking for team players with new ideas, because employees truly are the experts in our ER.
