In November 2023, Diane Batty underwent robotic knee replacement surgery at HCA Florida Blake Hospital. For Diane, it was a step toward reclaiming the active lifestyle she loves.

Reflecting on her experience, she shared, "The surgery went smoothly, and I was up and walking within hours."

The attentive care she received made a lasting impression. Diane praised the team that supported her throughout the process:

"I really appreciate the support and attention given by the staff at Blake Hospital. The pre- and post-op nurse who stayed with me, the anesthesiology team was phenomenal, and of course, Dr. Cashen and his staff provided professional and caring support during my surgery and recovery."

Robotic-assisted knee replacement surgeries, like Diane’s, are increasingly recognized for their precision and positive outcomes. Studies show that robotic technology can improve implant alignment, with patient’s reporting reduced pain and better joint function compared to traditional methods. Patients undergoing robotic-assisted surgery also experience shorter hospital stays, quicker recovery times and lower rates of complications.

Since her surgery, Diane has been able to return to the activities she enjoys most, including traveling and staying physically active.

"Since then, I've traveled to Spain and Greece, hiked, and now I'm back in the gym and even boxing!" she said.

For those considering knee replacement surgery, Diane has some words of encouragement:

"If you're considering knee replacement, I highly recommend staying fit and following through with physical therapy. It’s worth it!"

Diane’s story is a testament to the possibilities of robotic surgery and dedicated rehabilitation, helping her regain mobility and enjoy an active lifestyle once again.

HCA Florida Blake Hospital’s orthopedic surgery program has been nationally recognized by Healthgrades as “America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery” for five straight years and “America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement” for four straight years.

Diane's surgery was performed by Dr. David Cashen, who uses robotics to improve patient outcomes.
