Outpatient physical rehabilitation
An outpatient rehabilitation program allows patients to stay at home during their recovery and receive therapy on their schedule. It is usually less intensive than inpatient rehabilitation.
Physical therapy in Gainesville, Florida
Physical therapy and rehabilitation are crucial to many patients' recoveries following injuries, illnesses, surgeries and inpatient hospital stays.
At HCA Florida North Florida Hospital, we have licensed therapists on-site to begin the rehabilitation process while you are still in the hospital. We also partner with community providers, so you'll have easy access to outpatient services to continue your recoveries. It's our goal to help you restore your abilities, regain your independence and recover fully.
Our physical therapy services
Our hospital offers access to a variety of physical therapy and rehabilitation services, including inpatient and outpatient care.
Types of therapy we offer
Everyone in our hospital who receives rehabilitative care has their own set of unique needs and abilities. This is why we offer multiple types of therapy to help you regain and relearn certain skills and daily tasks. At our hospital, you'll have access to the following therapies:
- Occupational therapy — This type of therapy is dedicated to helping you relearn tasks of daily living after a disease, medical event or injury. Sometimes, this may involve teaching you how to accomplish tasks using assistive devices.
- Physical therapy — This type of therapy focuses on regaining proper movement and strength building. It helps to reduce pain, increase range of motion and speed recovery following an injury.
- Speech therapy — Also commonly called speech language pathology, this type of therapy helps with speech and language conditions.
Inpatient rehabilitation services
Each of our patients have access to short-term physical therapy services.
Our goal for acute care patients is to help them reach a medically stable position where they are strong enough to either return home or participate in an outpatient rehabilitation program.
Our physical therapists examine each patient and develop a plan of care to promote movement, reduce pain, restore function and prevent long-term disability. We not only partner with our patients throughout their rehabilitation journey, but we also involve friends, family and other support people to achieve positive recovery outcomes.
