Originally from the suburbs of Chicago and New York, Dr. Mates trained in Alabama for his medical school and residency in Orthopaedic Surgery. He completed his fellowship in Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle at the Andrews Institute for Sports Medicine. His mentors included team physicians at the college and professional level.
