Sylvia T.
Mercy Hospital cardiac patient, Sylvia T., describes her experience with A-Fib and how remote heart monitoring saved her life.
“I started having heart palpitations about 8 years ago and that was when I first learned that I have atrial fibrillation, an irregular heartbeat that can lead to serious health complications. I needed to see an electrophysiologist and was referred to Dr. Interian who performed a cardiac ablation, a procedure that destroys the heart tissue that is triggering abnormal rhythms. I was terrified at the time, but Dr. Interian talked me through the whole process and backed-up all of his treatment methods with data. He also implanted a loop recorder to continuously monitor my heart rhythm and thank God he did. The loop alerted Dr. Interian to an atrial flutter that had to be addressed immediately. I still have my loop recorder so Dr. Interian is alerted immediately to any changes in my heart beat. I feel like the bionic woman! I cannot thank Dr. Interian and his staff enough for all they have done for me. His entire team is comprised of the most kind, sweet and accommodating people I have ever worked with. If anyone thinks that they are experiencing a cardiac episode I urge them to go to the doctor immediately. I know that COVID-19 is at the forefront of everyone's mind but remember, heart disease is the true killer.”
