Tumor registry

Our certified tumor registrars play an important role in maintaining our accreditation with the American College of Surgery Commission on Cancer.

This is essential in tracking and trending treatments and outcomes to help us continuously improve the quality of care we provide. It also ensures we remain current with the most advanced techniques and industry changes.

Lymphedema educational group

Attendees of the lymphedema educational group have an opportunity to network with an experienced lymphedema therapist and certified instructor as well as others who have participated in lymphedema therapy.

In this casual, monthly gathering, we cover different topics related to lymphedema, such as:

  • Lymphedema education
  • Products and home treatment options
  • Lymphedema development risk reduction

Date and time: Second Tuesday of the month, 5:00pm to 6:00pm

Nutrition from A to Z: Answers to your nutrition and diet questions

Are you confused by all the information on cancer and nutrition? What can you eat? What can't you eat? You're not alone.

This monthly, nutritional program reviews the current nutritional information and guidelines for patients currently facing cancer and cancer survivors.

Date and time: Third Wednesday of the month, 5:00pm to 6:00pm

Gentle yoga class

This monthly yoga class offers a series of gentle yoga poses geared toward individuals healing from cancer. Participants leave the class with a greater sense of ease and well-being and with a few more tools in their recovery toolbox.

Date and time: Second Wednesday of the month, 5:00pm to 6:00pm

Smoking cessation support group

Learn to live without tobacco in this smoking cessation support group, which meets every six weeks. Topics discussed include coping with withdrawal symptoms, managing addiction and preventing relapse. We provide group members with free nicotine patches, lozenges and gum.

Studies have shown that smokers double their success rate of quitting tobacco by attending group counseling.

Dates and times: Tuesdays, every six weeks, 4:00pm Spanish-speaking group and 5:00pm English-speaking group

Bereavement support group

This bereavement support group meets bi-monthly. Members explore feelings and find healing from the hurt of losing a loved one.

Date and time: First and third Mondays of the month at 3:00pm

Therapy team

Our team of certified therapists shares a passion and commitment to care for your needs. They take great pride in delivering technologically advanced treatment while providing the compassion and care you need and deserve.

Physics and dosimetry team

Our certified physicists and dosimetrists are highly skilled in planning your radiation treatment in collaboration with our radiation oncology physicians.

Nursing

Our registered nurses work closely with you and the entire oncology team to ensure that your experience and care is positive and fulfilling.

Dietitians and nutritionists

Our registered dietitians and nutritionists work with you and your and physicians to help meet the specific dietary and nutrition needs you have. This ensures your best quality of life while you are undergoing treatment.

Psychosocial support team

The psychosocial approach examines the influence that psychological factors combined with surrounding social environments have on a person's physical and mental wellness.

Our psychosocial team is here to work with our patients and physicians to help with the psychological effects of cancer and is also available to assist with other needs, such as impact to family and finances. Our team's primary goal is to facilitate healing while restoring a psychological balance.

Nurse navigator for cancer patients

HCA Florida Aventura Hospital works together with Sarah Cannon, the Cancer Institute of HCA Healthcare, to provide experienced, compassionate nurse navigators to support you as you go through the many stages of living with cancer. Your nurse navigator serves as your medical-system advocate and helps you and your family understand each part of the cancer journey.
