Blake Hospital breaks ground on freestanding emergency department in South Bradenton

HCA Florida Blake Hospital held a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, December 4, to formally announce construction on a freestanding emergency department set to serve patients in Manatee County and the surrounding communities beginning summer of 2024. The new emergency department, HCA Florida South Bradenton Emergency, will be located at 6215 14^th Street West, Bradenton, FL 34207. The 11,500 square foot facility, a part of HCA Florida Blake Hospital, will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  

“We are excited to expand our emergency services into South Bradenton and the Bayshore community,” said Steve Young, CEO at HCA Florida Blake Hospital. “HCA Florida Blake Hospital continues to expand to meet the needs of the growing communities we serve to help ensure residents can receive quality health care services close to home.”

The facility will feature 12 exam rooms and offer full-service emergency care, including laboratory, x-rays, CT scanning and ultrasound capabilities. It is expected to serve over 10,000 patients annually.

The new facility represents a $15 million initial investment from HCA Florida Healthcare. The facility expects to add 32 new full-time positions including nurses, paramedics, radiology technicians, security guards, laboratory technicians, pharmacy technicians and housekeeping staff. The annual impact of the salary and benefits of these new positions is estimated over $3 million annually.

This project comes on the 50^th anniversary of HCA Florida Blake Hospital and is a testament to the commitment of the hospital to continue providing advanced and accessible healthcare services to the communities it serves. This is the second freestanding emergency department currently being constructed by HCA Florida Blake Hospital in Manatee County. The other freestanding emergency department is anticipated to open at 902 10^th Street East, Palmetto, FL, 34221 in the summer of 2024.
