HCA Florida Englewood Hospital announced today that it has been awarded a 2024 Patient Safety Excellence Award™ for the sixth year by Healthgrades, the leading marketplace connecting doctors and patients.

Healthgrades Specialty Excellence Awards™ recognize the nation’s leading hospitals across 18 specialty care areas – recipient hospitals represent the top hospitals in the country for each specialty. Englewood Hospital has been among the Top 10% in the nation every year since 2019.

These distinctions and numerous other accolades from Healthgrades reflect Englewood Hospital’s outstanding clinical performance, which sets the hospital apart as one of the nation’s leading hospitals.

Other achievements awarded to the hospital by Healthgrades in January 2024 include:

Cardiology:

  • America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary InterventionTM, 2024
  • Coronary Intervention Excellence Award™ for three years in a row, 2022 - 2024
  • Top 10% in the nation for Coronary Interventional Procedures for three years in a row, 2022 - 2024

“Being named among the top 10% of hospitals for patient safety shortly after awards for cardiology, critical care, gastrointestinal and orthopedic care is an elite honor our community can be proud of,” said CEO Joe Rudisill. “Our medical staff and colleagues believe in always doing what is right for our patients, and patient safety is central to everything we do.”

Unlike other hospital quality studies, Healthgrades evaluates hospitals solely on clinical outcomes: risk-adjusted mortality and complications. By focusing on what matters most–patient outcomes–Healthgrades ratings provide critical feedback for both patients and hospitals. By offering easy access to objective performance measures, Healthgrades gives consumers the information they need to find a hospital that excels in providing the care they need. By shining a light on strengths and weaknesses, Healthgrades ratings help direct hospitals to opportunities for clinical improvement.

To identify the top performers, the 2024 hospital assessment evaluated patient mortality and complication rates for 35 common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide.

“Healthgrades congratulates Englewood Hospital for being a national leader and demonstrating a deep commitment to providing high-quality care to all patients,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Head of Data Science at Healthgrades. “As health systems nationwide endeavor to elevate their quality of care, these elite facilities provide a roadmap for success. We commend Englewood Hospital for their dedication to excellence in patient care.”
