Modesta Hicks

Modesta is the winner of Palms West Hospital's 2Q Daisy Award, which recognizes the skill and extraordinary compassion of nurses across the world.

The patient nominated Modesta (Mo -as everyone calls her), for the love, dedication and support she and her husband received. The patient had this to say, in her nominating entry:

“My husband was hospitalized at the end of December with COVID19 and was not doing very well for weeks, until finally the team of Doctors and staff were able to help him recover. We felt blessed we chose Palms West as our go to hospital, as the Doctors and staff were amazing and caring but there was one nurse that stood out above all the others - that was Mo, the most nurturing, loving, kind human being we’ve met in a very long time. We want to thank her for her devotion and love to her patients. Within a few weeks of my husband's stay at the hospital, I myself was also admitted with Covid19 and was also taken care by Mo. I am so happy to tell her that my husband had told me all about this nurse he had that was so kind and caring and I finally got to meet this wonderful person. Although, not under the best circumstances, but I feel blessed she was there to help me through these 2 or 3 horrible scary moments, thank you soooo much from the bottom of our hearts.”
