Manny Estrada
Discover the story of Manny Estrada's unfortunate basketball related ankle injury that was treated same day with Dr. Hiller and Tran at Aventura Hospital.
While playing basketball, Manny Estrada made a quick turn too quickly and his Achilles ruptured. “Fortunately, I was with some of my colleagues and they brought me here, to the ER at Aventura Hospital. I had a great experience with Dr. Huy Tran, who quickly realized what the issue was and contacted the on-call surgeon, Dr. Andrew Hiller.”
A same-day appointment was made for Manny to see Dr. Hiller, who after reviewing his case provided Manny with both surgical and non-surgical options. Manny chose surgery and the procedure was scheduled and performed by Dr. Hiller that same week.
As the Director of Information Technology for Aventura Hospital, Manny was instrumental in the technological buildout of Aventura Hospital’s new East Tower, home to the Orthopedic & Spine Institute. In fact, Manny became one of the East Tower’s first patients for his post-surgical recovery!
“The East Tower is an awesome facility. I was the first patient in one of the new East Tower suites. The staff was great, Maykel (Nurse Director, OrthoSpine) did a great job checking in on me, Humberto (Orthopedic Nurse Navigator), Kim (Nurse Manager, Ortho/Spine), everyone was very, very helpful.
Physical therapy was great with my therapist Joel, he was awesome! I shared with Joel that I would need to go up some stairs and he did some research for the next day and gave me suggestions on how to best go up the stairs. My nurse also met my mom downstairs and showed her to my room; I was very thankful for that.
Dr. Andrew Hiller did a great job. I’m recovering great, doing rehab here (at Aventura Hospital) working with various therapists already and they have been great, giving me suggestions to what to do at home. I’m trying to recover quickly, I’m thankful that I work here (at Aventura Hospital) and have the privilege to recover here and be treated by the people I work with, it’s awesome!”
